Funding & Support

Arts of Place is funded by Bradford Metropolitan District Council and Arts Council England (Yorkshire) - Grants for the Arts.

Throughout the project we will be working in collaboration with our funders, Bradford City of Film and other local creative organisations.

Artist Selection

We have worked closely with Bradford based creative organisations in the artist selection process. Members of the Artist Selection panel were invited on the basis of their direct involvement in the Arts of Place programme (eg funding partner) and / or relevant expertise relating to the nature of the Temporary Commissions and Professional Mentoring opportunities (film and related media / public engagement / public realm / learning).

With the exception of representatives from Beam (who are responsible for the overall programme management and delivery), members took part in this process on an entirely voluntary basis and will be further involved on this basis as appropriate (eg informal interviews, presentation of concept designs, etc).

Artist Selection Panel members include (in alphabetical order):

  • Ian Banks, Director, Atoll - City Park, Permanent Commission Programme - lead
  • Kate Bennett, Manager – Beam - Arts of Place: City Park, Bradford – management support
  • Jill Kelly, Manager – Beam - Arts of Place: City Park, Bradford – management lead
  • Anne McNeill, Director, Impressions Gallery - Film and related media - expertise
  • Robert Powell, Executive Director, Beam - Arts of Place: City Park, Bradford – strategic lead
  • Gideon Seymour, Director, Fabric - City of Film Service Delivery Partner (via Fabric)
  • David Wilson, Cultural Programmes Manager, Bradford Council - Bradford cultural activity overview and related expertise
  • Karenna Wood, Key Corporate Projects Communications Manager, Bradford Council - City Park Team

Due to the specific link that the programme has with Bradford City of Film, Director, Peg Alexander was invited to be a member of the Artist Selection Panel.  Peg was unfortunately unable to participate due to prior commitments.  However, Gideon Seymour’s extensive knowledge of City of Film via Fabric’s role as City of Film Service Delivery Partner and his presence on the Artist Selection Panel suitably addressed this gap.
