City Park
The City Park is a six-acre park at the heart of Bradford city centre. It contains the largest city centre water feature in the UK – the mirror pool and is the central scheme in Bradford’s ambitious regeneration plans.
It will be a flexible space for people of all ages to enjoy, with areas for rest, play and relaxation. The mirror pool is an unique feature which will reflect and showcase the Grade 1-listed City Hall and will set Bradford apart. The pool will host over 100 fountains and have light, sound and mist effects - making it look different each time you visit. The pool can be easily drained to host large concerts, carnivals, markets, sports events and theatre productions for up to 10,000 people.
The City Park has been designed to bring jobs and prosperity to Bradford. It will attract visitors and investors, raise land values and help create the landscape for future investment. It will connect the city centre together and stimulate the local economy. The Park is a critical part of Bradford’s regeneration.
Background
Since the Masterplan for Bradford city centre was launched in 2003, the City Park has been seen as a critical part of Bradford’s regeneration. After extensive consultation with the public and investment community, the current designs are the latest translation of that vision. The scheme is jointly funded by Bradford Council, Yorkshire Forward and the Regional Transport Board.
